John T. Fisher, Jr., Esq.
John Fisher was born on May 14, 1968 in Columbus, Georgia. Mr. Fisher graduated from Columbus High School in 1986 and Columbus State University in 1990. Mr. Fisher then began an insurance agency for Allstate Insurance Company and in 1992, was recruited by United Family Life Insurance Company to serve as an Area Sales Manager in West Central Georgia. In 1993, Mr. Fisher was promoted to Regional Sales Vice President and served in that capacity until he enrolled in the University of Alabama School of Law in the Fall of 1994
While obtaining his undergraduate degree in Human Resource Management with an emphasis in Marketing, Mr. Fisher received several honors. Mr. Fisher served as Vice President for Academic Affairs in the Student Government Association as well as an internship in the House of Represenatives for the Georgia General Assembly in the state’s capitol, Atlanta, Georgia.
Mr. Fisher earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of Alabama School of Law in 1997. During his time at the Law School, Mr. Fisher was a member of the Bench and Bar Legal Honor Society, the Christian Legal Society, the Trial Advocacy National Competition Team, the Trial Advocacy Association, the Farrah Law Society and the Federalist Society. Mr. Fisher also served as a Senator in the Student Bar Association in 1995 and 1996, as well as the President of the Trial Advocacy Association in 1997.
Mr. Fisher was the recipient of numerous awards while in law school, including the George “Peach” Award for Outstanding Trial Advocacy (1996, 1997), the American Judicature Society Award (1997), the Sam Harvey Hamner Academic Scholarship and the Judge Cecil M. Deason Scholarship. Mr. Fisher was a member of the ATLA National Trial Team in 1996 and 1997 and the NITA Tournament of Champions Team in 1996.
Mr. Fisher began his legal career in Tuscaloosa, Alabama while working for one of the oldest, largest and most respected law firms in West Alabama. After two years with his former firm, in September 1999 Mr. Fisher formed the firm of Loftis & Fisher, P.C. In 2002, Mr. Fisher reformed the firm to what is now The Fisher Law Firm, P.C.
Mr. Fisher’s backgroung and experience, both in the legal and business world, along with his legal education have prepared him for a diverse practice. Mr. Fisher focuses primarily in the areas of general litigation with emphasis on Business Law, Civil Plaintiff (Personal Injury) and Defense Law and Criminal Defense. Mr. Fisher serves a general counsel for several local businesses providing them with valuable legal representation and business counseling. In addition to the above, Mr. Fisher regularly practices in the areas of doing Business Transactions, Real Estate Negotiations, Adoptions, Domestic Relations and Family Law, Real Estate Disputes, Real Estate Closings and Will Drafting.
Mr. Fisher also spends a considerable amount of practice time representing juveniles in dependent matters and as well as juvenile delinquincies. This is an area that the entire firm takes seriously and enjoys serving in.
Mr. Fisher is an active member and Deacon of Calvary Baptist Church. Mr. Fisher is also a member of the Rotary Club of Tuscaloosa where he served on the Board of Directors and was Chairman of the Adopt-A-School Committee for six years. Mr. Fisher has also served on the steering committee for the West Alabama Chamber of Commerce Adapt-A-School Program, was a member of the Chamber’s School to Career school based subcommittee, and has been a Past President and Board Member for Temporary Emergency Services, Inc. for over five years.
Mr. Fisher serves on the Board of Directors for the National Black Church Family Council and was a volunteer lecturer for the Chamber’s “Choices” program to middle schools and high schools in Tuscaloosa. Mr. Fisher has also been a guest lecturer in several studies at the University of Alabama.
During the past 11 years, Mr. Fisher has been integrally involved in the establishment of Trinity Missions, a non-profit corporation serving both domestic and international missions. The international missions are focused in St. Petersburg, Russia, emphasizing ministry to orphans, widows and prisoners.
